Inserting style sheets in CSS:
You can actually insert style sheets in three different ways in CSS. They are:
External style sheets
Internal style sheets
Inline styles
Let us look at each of these methods in detail one after the other.
External Style Sheets: It is best to use external style sheets if you wish to apply a particular style to numerous pages. Say for example, you wish to change the look of the whole website, what will you do? Simply use external style sheets and just modify only one file and you are done. It is essential that you link each page using <link> tag in the header section of the code.
You can simply use a text editor to write external style sheets. Things to be noted when saving the file:
Ensure that there are no html tags in the file.
Save your file with .css extension
There shouldn’t be any spaces between property values and units
Example:
hr {color: blue}p {margin-left: 45px}
body {background-image: url(”images/back96.gif”)} Internal Style Sheets: You might have so many documents; however, you may wish to follow a unique style in any one of your document. In such an instance, use internal style sheets. You must use <style> tag inside the header section for this style sheet to work.Example:<head><style type=”text/css”>
<!–
hr {color: blue}
p {margin-left: 45px}
body {background-image: url(”images/back96.gif”)}
–>
</style>
</head>Inline Style Sheets: In general, it is not advisable to use inline style sheets, unless otherwise absolutely necessary. You may use this if you wish to apply a style for a particular element and not otherwise. Style attribute must be used to make inline style sheets work.Example:<p style=”color: blue; margin-left: 45px”>
An example of inline style sheets </p>I hope you are clear about inserting style sheets in CSS. Make use of it and make your website look more beautiful.
